| January 7, 2012 The Joe Kleinerman 10K Classic is one of the most popular races on the NYRR calendar. A new January date this year gave thousands of runners the chance to start 2012 on the right foot. Dozens of NYRR members volunteered and got the "+1" of their 9+1 qualifying credit for guaranteed entry to the ING New York City Marathon 2013. "I'm here because I want to do the marathon!" said volunteer Emma Glon of Manhattan. "I haven't done a marathon yet, but I hope 2013 will be my year." Overall race winners were Chase Pizzzonia of Connecticut (31:38) and Jeanna Composti of Manhattan (38:08). |
