The NYRR Youth Jamboree, A Track & Field & Wellness Event, took the spotlight on May 15 during a busy NYRR weekend. A week of sunny weather gave way to rain as the kids ran the morning's events, which included the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes and the long jump and shot put. The highlight of the morning was a 100-meter dash for 7- and 8-year-olds to qualify for the "Fastest Kid Race," which will be held at the adidas Grand Prix on June 11.

NYRR Youth and Community Services Executive Director Cliff Sperber spoke to the excited crowd of athletes and spectators during the Opening Ceremony, and after a storm delay the older runners, ages 10 to 15, competed in events including the 800-meter invitational run (ages 10 to 12), the 100-meter dash, the shot put, the long jump, and the 400-meter run. The afternoon ended with the 4 x 200-meter relay.
