| Saturday, September 17 Great race weather--55 degrees and partly cloudy--greeted the 4,453 runners who showed up for the men's and women's Fitness Mind, Body, Spirit Games four-milers on Saturday, September 17, in Central Park. In the women's race, the field of 2,570 was headed by Aziza Aliyu of the West Side Runners, who ran 22:57. Her teammate Tesfaye Assefa Dube ran 19:33 to lead a men's field of 1,883 competitors. The NYC running community got a taste of great autumn distance-running conditions just over six weeks before the ING New York City Marathon 2011. |
