Five-time and defending champion Thomas Dold of Germany extended his streak to six. “I was first going into the staircase, which helped,” he said afterward. Although he wasn’t able to crack the 10:00 barrier, Dold was pleased with his race. “I was able to stand on my own two feet for the first time at the finish,” he joked.
