| August 7, 2010 It's a great feeling to win the clubs-only NYRR Team Championships, as the West Side Runners men and the New York Athletic Club women learned on a mercifully temperate Saturday in Central Park. But earning a victory—and the accompanying double points in the yearly team standings—wasn't the only incentive that runners had to show up for the race. The annual event brings together more runners from each team than almost any other race on the NYRR calendar, and this year was no exception. Competitors of widely varying ages and abilities turned out to give it their best on the five-mile course, then stuck around the park for team photos, picnics, and softball games...because winning isn't the only reason to celebrate. |
