Young Professionals Committee Turns Out in Force A large, energetic, and happy crowd of Young Professionals Committee members (the group supports NYRR Youth and Community Services showed up for a fun run on National Running Day, June 2. On a pleasantly warm evening in Central Park, 126 people—some of them complete beginners—did a warm-up with Team for Kids coaches (and national masters track champions) Frank Handelman and Sid Howard and then toured the Bridle Path for a few relaxing miles. NYRR's hydration station at Engineers' gate was a welcome stopover. The group reconvened near West 81st Street for cool-down stretching, and then most of them visited the Gin Mill on Amsterdam Avenue for post-run Happy Hour drinks and socializing. Miles were tallied, friendships were made, and possibly a few running careers were begun as this enthusiastic crew took full advantage of the spirit of National Running Day.
