| September 19, 2010 There were great performances on a perfect day for running at the Norwegian Festival. But Norway—the land of fjords, salmon, midnight sun, and the legendary Grete Waitz—was the star of the show. Waitz—who won the New York City Marathon an incredible nine times back in the 1970s and '80s—was on hand, along with representatives of the Norwegian Consulate. This perfect family event included two grown-up races and a Troll Stroll for kids ages 2–12, followed by a festival with lots of Norwegian yummies and fun activities, from face painting to educational cooking classes.
