October 31, 2010

Runners getting ready for the ING New York City Marathon 2010 will be happy if the weather on November 7 is like the perfect conditions that greeted participants in the Poland Spring Marathon Kickoff, which opened Marathon Week in Central Park on October 31. Nearly 5,000 finishers--including men's winner Chris Heibell of Hillsborough, NJ, who ran 24:50, and women's winner Frances Koons of Bryn Mawr, PA, who ran 26:47 and beat all but seven of the 2,415 men in the race--enjoyed clear skies and a temperature of 49 degrees. At the end of the five-mile race, the runners crossed the marathon's finish line. The Halloween costumes worn by many runners and spectators and a few staff and volunteers made the race even a bit more colorful than the gorgeous fall foliage already did.

Poland Spring, a marathon sponsor, will supplied their Poland Spring Brand 100% Natural Spring Water on site, and will supply it at the start, on the course, and at the finish next Sunday. The excitement and fun of Marathon Week will continue through November 8, so check back throughout the week for photos, reports, videos, and more, and be a part of it!
