December 5, 2010

The Joe Kleinerman 10K was the final race of the NYRR team points series for 2010, and sub-freezing weather with winds gusting to 24 miles per hour didn't deter the local teams from coming out in force. Among the open men, West Side Runners capped a great year by winning easily over the Warren Street Social & Athletic Club (WS), with Central Park Track Club New Balance (CPTC) in third. CPTC edged Athena New York for the women's win, and newcomers Henwood's Hounds Racing Team took third; the New York Athletic Club held on to the yearly title. A yearlong battle in the men's 40+ division was won on this last possible opportunity by WS, who edged their rivals Urban Athletics to take the yearly championship. The 40+ women of Athena New York took the daily and yearly titles, CPTC's 50+ men completed a rare undefeated season, and the New York Flyers won the day's 50+ women's title but didn't catch Taconic Road Runners for the yearly win. The 60+ titles were won by Taconic's men and the Greater New York Racing Team's women; Taconic and the Millrose Athletic Association were the yearly champions.
