| June 6, 2010 Despite warm, humid conditions, the fourth annual Japan Run, a four-miler in Central Park, had a record number of finishers—more than 5,400. Leading the charge was male overall winner Jorge Real in 20:34 and Japanese distance star Miki Ohira, who turned the tables on last year’s champion, Japanese Olympian Yoko Shibui, with a 22:49 finish. The Japan Run and accompanying kids’ races are part of Japan Day @ Central Park, a festival that celebrates traditional and contemporary Japanese culture with a variety of activities over the course of the day. |
