The Percy Sutton Harlem 5K Run and NYC Family Heath Walk for the Children of Haiti kicked off to the tune of "Summer in the City" -- but the weather felt more like fall, at a comfortable 70 degrees. Congressman Charles Rangel spoke of his affection for the race's namesake, the late Percy Sutton, and blew the starter horn (photo 1). Other guest speakers included Borough President Scott Stringer and NYRR CEO and President Mary Wittenberg (6); NYRR Youth and Community Services Director Cliff Sperber and Fox 5 weatherman Mike Woods (10); and Sutton's daughter Keisha Sutton-James, who also held the 5K finish-line tape (11). Abiyot Endale (7) of the Bronx won the men's 5K with an even 15:00, and Sally Meyerhoff (13) of Arizona won the women's division in 22:36.
