March 7, 2009
The NYRR 2010 Team Points season opened with beautiful 37-degree weather and a blazing-fast 5K in upper Manhattan. Coogan’s Salsa, Blues, and Shamrocks 5K took 5,630 runners up and back on Fort Washington Avenue, with a scenic loop through Fort Tryon Park in the middle. Live music filled the air along the course as bands playing rock, salsa, and even bagpipes serenaded the runners. The individual winners were Deresse Deniboba of the Bronx and Claudia Camargo Nero of Hopewell, NY; the New York Athletic Club (NYAC) swept the men’s and women’s open team competition.
