| May 22, 2010 The 2010 Brooklyn Half-Marathon was a celebration of New York’s most populous borough—its parks, its tree-lined boulevards, and its world-famous Coney Island boardwalk and amusement park, where more than 7,000 runners finished on a beautiful spring morning. The race began with greetings from Brooklyn elected officials Marty Markowitz, the Borough President, and Councilman Domenic Recchia, Jr., who then ran the 13.1-mile race in 2:58:41. The finishing athletes were cheered on by hundreds of spectators, and Brooklyn business owners were on hand to welcome them to “America’s playground.” Throughout the weekend, runners and their friends and families enjoyed special offers in Park Slope and Coney Island restaurants, bars, and businesses, thanks to a booklet distributed at pickup/registration.
