The second annual NYRR Ted Corbitt 15K, the race that honors the late Corbitt— ultramarathoner, course-measurement pioneer, and NYRR’s first president— gave more than 3,400 participants the chance to run before the first snowstorm of the season hit Central Park. [Results] |

Filled with competitive runners from a variety of local teams, the start of the 15K looked like most other NYRR races—except for a Santa hat or two.

Beatrice Van Eck of Manhattan made a 7:48-per-mile pace look easy.

Amazingly, Shyamala Joshi (left) of Brooklyn and Michelle Lipson of Philadelphia managed to run 9.3 miles while balancing Christmas trees on their heads!

Antonio Liuzzo of Terramia NYC won the men’s race in a super-fast 48:48.

Katarina Janosikova of Running Divas New York took top honors in the women’s race in a time of 54:15.
