R Baby Mother’s Day 4M / Health Walk (1.3M) / Kids' Races

Families came out to Central Park in force for the 4-mile run, health walk, and kids’ races. With perfect weather for outdoor celebrations and a great cause—R Baby Foundation’s mission to save babies’ lives—Mother’s Day was extra sweet this year. And there were plenty of activities for everyone at the post-race festival.

Runners took off at 8:00 a.m. for the 4-mile run.


Why not run in Central Park on such a beautiful day?


Sherry Cranmer (left) and Sherron Tynan of Leonia, NJ, ran together.


Michele Walker from Laurelton, NY, enjoyed the great racing conditions.


Participants streamed toward the finish line on the 72nd Street Transverse.


Leading the men’s pack in 19-flat was Abiyot Endale of the Westchester Track Club.


West Side Runners’ Muliye Gurmu finished first in the women’s race, in 22:31.


Funds were raised for the R Baby Foundation to honor the memory of Phyllis Rabinowitz’s daughter, Rebecca.


Like the runners, walkers turned out to support a great cause.


Multiple generations walked together as a team.


Mothers encouraged their sons and daughters to follow in their lead.


And those who couldn’t walk looked great enjoying the ride!


Wise women modeled fitness to their daughters.


The kids’ races were filled with speedy little legs.


Some future track stars started on their own and others had a little help.


It was the perfect occasion to stick around and give mom a hug.


Crafts were part of the post-race fun.


For some kids, basketball was the highlight.


The youngest members of the family could enjoy this safe play area.


The Raggs motivated everyone to clap their hands and say “yeah!”
