The 2009 NYRR team points race series was wrapped up on December 6 with the running of the Joe Kleinerman 10K in Central Park. The race was run on a crisp 33-degree morning and resulted in open team wins for the men of West Side Runners (WSX), who capped off their yearly championship, and the women of the Central Park Track Club (CPTC), who finished the year in second place behind the New York Athletic Club. Bado Worku Merdessa of WSX won the men’s race by three seconds in an excellent time of 30:10.

Abiyot Endale of the Westchester Track Club (WTC) was a very close second place in 30:13.

Derese Deniboba, also of WTC, was third in 30:20.

Mohammed Awol of WSX, the top local finisher in the ING New York City Marathon 2009, was fourth in 31:12.

Paul Thompson of the Warren Street Social & Athletic Club won the masters (40+) title. He ran 32:19 and finished 11th overall.

Rick Temerian of Urban Athletics won his 50-54 age group in a time of 35:44.

Timothy Delaney of the Taconic Road Runners ran 40:15 to win the 60-64 division.

Nevio Dobry of the Greater New York Racing Team ran 1:00:20 to take fourth place in his 70-74 age division.

Sab Koide, 86, of the Millrose Athletic Association (MILL) won his age group with a time of 1:27:24.

Aurelio Dimas of the Hellgate Road Runners finished in 39:32.

Walt Looney of the New York Flyers ran 45:33.

Scott Emmons of Front Runners New York ran 50:15.

Aziza Aliyu of WSX won the women’s race by more than a minute with her 34:51 performance.

Kate Irvin led her CPTC team to victory with her second-place 35:53.

Kelly Chin of Running Divas New York (RDNY) took third place in 36:10.

Sarah Alaei of CPTC was sixth in 37:26.

Sheila Casey of RDNY won the masters title in an excellent 37:20—good for fifth place overall.

Mary Diver was second in her 55-59 age group with a time of 47:56.

Sylvie Kimché won her 60-64 division and led CPTC’s 50+ team to victory. Her time was 47:13.

Marie Killeen of the Rockland Road Runners ran 57:13 to win the 70-74 division.

Maria Sacchetti of the New York Harriers ran 40:55 to take sixth place in the 30-34 division.

Marilyn Greeley Walsh won the 65-69 age group by almost four minutes in a time of 50:15.

Jill Staats of the Van Cortlandt Track Club took fifth place in the 55-59 age group in a time of 52:25.

Jun Matsuyoshi , 62, of the Mercury Masters ran 1:12:13.
