NYRR Joe Kleinerman 10K - Event Gallery

Joe Kleinerman, who died in 2003 at age 91, was a founding member of NYRR and a longtime coach of the Millrose Athletic Association who championed women’s and age-group running when these were considered outrageous concepts. Kleinerman’s spirit lives on at his namesake race, which had nearly 5,000 finishers this year on a perfect day for running. [Local Gallery] [Video] [Results]

Runners broke out their headbands and gloves as the thermometer registered a chilly 33 degrees at the start in Central Park.
With individual prize money and team points on the line, the top runners started quickly.
Nice weather, great competition—why not try for a PR?
Though heavy rain and some snow had fallen the previous day, the roads were clear.
There’s something about NYRR’s December races that makes runners smile.
Pale winter sunlight filtered through trees nearly bare of their fall foliage.
Men’s winner Bado Worku Merdessa finished in 30:10…
…and his West Side Runners teammate Aziza Aliyu crossed the finish line in 34:51.
Sean Flynn (#2206) of New York finished in 53:25.
The course circled the park completely and finished on the 102nd Street Transverse.
Racing—at any pace—is a great way to enjoy the fellowship of friends.
