Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer in 2012

All opportunities in 2012 will count as a volunteer credit toward the 9+1 Program for NYRR members who would like to qualify for guaranteed entry to the 2013 ING New York City Marathon. Please note that 2012 volunteering will count toward the 2013 marathon, NOT toward the 2012 marathon.

NYRR’s annual calendar features more than 100 running/walking events throughout New York City, including road races ranging from 1 to 50 miles, cross country races, indoor track meets, and kids races. We need and greatly appreciate the assistance of volunteers at all of our events.

Click the link below and you will be directed to a sign-in page, which will take you to a list of races. From there you can expand a race to see the list of available volunteer jobs. Certain assignments may fill up quickly, so sign up early.

NYRR members who are volunteering in order to gain guaranteed entry into the ING New York City Marathon must enter their member number when they sign up to volunteer. Any volunteer opportunity listed in the Volunteer Sign-Up System will satisfy the guaranteed entry requirement. You do not have to wait until you complete your 9 races to volunteer. We encourage you to get the volunteer requirement completed as early as possible.

Go to http://volunteers.nyrr.org to sign up.

Important! Be sure that we have your correct phone number and e-mail address in the volunteer system, even if you think NYRR has this information in another place. The only way to do this is to update your profile in the volunteer system. After your log-in is complete, click on the "Profile" box. Enter your correct telephone number and current e-mail address, confirm e-mail address, and click "Save."

If you have any questions, please contact NYRR's volunteer office at 212.423.2205. We will contact you the week before the event to remind you of the race time and location.
