Assistant Manager, Digital Properties
Reports to the Director of Digital Properties. The Assistant Manager, Digital Properties will be responsible for assisting with the administration of all NYRR digital properties. Administration includes the planning, coordination, and implementation of web development for NYRR.org INGNYCMarathon.org, RunningDay.org, and other properties; day-to-day technical and editorial maintenance; quantitative analysis; management of special projects; and more. The right candidate will have direct experience as a web assistant manager/editor and complete fluency with Internet technology. The right candidate will be a self-motivated, enthusiastic thinker who is open to working within a team to achieve organizational goals. This position requires the applicant to work Thursday through Monday with Tuesday and Wednesday off.


Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning, coordination, and implementation of web development
  • Assist with maintenance of front-end technical aspects of websites including HTML, CSS, and integration of Java, video, streaming audio, graphics, and Flash
  • Assist with planning and execution of content creation on websites including highlights, captions, and general information
  • Assist with the trend and usage analysis and optimize web services accordingly; assist with SEO
  • Assist with multiple inflows of content related to various sections on the site including classes, clinics, running partners, volunteers, etc.

Marketing Partnerships – Account Coordinator


NYRR is seeking an experienced Account Coordinator to join the Marketing Partnerships team in our Business Development and Marketing Strategy Department.

This position will report to the Assistant Marketing Manager and will assist in managing internal and external deadlines, tracking sponsor deliverables and providing support for overall department projects.

 

Major Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Assist Sponsorship Team Assistant Manager and Manager to ensure successful execution of all projects and sponsor contracts related to weekly races and the Marathon
  • Coordinate and track ING New York City Marathon related deliverables across all sponsor accounts
  • Communicate project updates to Assistant Manager in a timely manner
  • Maintain records for post-Marathon and post weekly event recaps (ex. capture web shots, samples, etc.)
  • Act as liaison between Marketing and other internal departments, maintaining effective communication between teams
  • Work on the weekends, at times 1-2 weekends a month
  • Write and distribute meeting notes for various internal and external meetings
  • Manage other assigned weekly and marathon related department projects (i.e. product charts, goody bag coordination, etc.)

 

Tasks/Projects:

  • Provide support on weekly NYRR events, including but not limited to:

Director, Marketing Partnerships
Position reports to Senior Vice President, Business Development & Marketing Strategy

 

This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day sponsorship “business” and overseeing the entire partnership management team.  This position ensures liaison between New York Road Runners (NYRR) sponsorship clients and NYRR’s internal production teams such as: Communications and Brand Management, Event Production and Development, Registration, IT, Event Scoring and Finance to produce cutting edge, strategic, well executed partnerships for NYRR.

 

This position requires leadership ability internally with direct reports, colleagues and externally with clients.  Must have proven management experience including the development of employees.  Candidates must demonstrate the ability to strategically evaluate partnerships and work in conjunction with the sales and business development team at NYRR to continue to grow relationships in ways that are mutually beneficial to NYRR and its partners. 

 

This is a highly visible, collaborative position which requires multi-tasking, good judgment, leadership, patience, a high level of professionalism and teamwork. Key responsibilities are built upon the intersection of client strategy, NYRR brand strategy and top notch client service in a high paced, ever changing environment. 

 

Major Responsibilities include:

  • Manage entire partnership business which includes overseeing 32+ clients associated with the ING New York City Marathon and 28+ clients tied to NYRR’s other road race events.  The position will oversee the 9 person account team (with the potential to grow) that fulfills the contractual benefits provided by NYRR to the partner as well as additional needs and requests from the partner
  • Responsible for ensuring the professional development of multiple employees
  • Responsible for analyzing partnership relationships, determining renewal strategy and leading the renewal process as well as up-selling partners on new NYRR assets
  • Responsible for managing financial aspects of partner relationships, assisting Sr. VP with budgeting process, tracking sponsorship payments and conduct financial analysis of current weekly race and marathon partnerships, providing SR. VP with recommendations on how to generate more revenue

Senior Manager, Marketing Partnerships
Position reports to Director, Marketing Partnerships

 

Position resides in the Business Development and Marketing Department and is an integral member of the Account Management Team. This position is responsible for the day-to-day management and servicing of client relationships and ensuring execution of contractual obligations to our partners. This position is responsible for managing and developing the Account Management team.

 

This position will serve as a liaison between New York Road Runners (NYRR) sponsorship clients and NYRR’s internal production teams—Communications and Brand Management, Event Production and Development Registration, IT, Event Scoring, and Finance—to produce cutting-edge, strategic, well-executed partnerships for NYRR.

 

This position requires leadership internally with direct reports and colleagues and proven management experience, which includes the development of employees. This position also requires the ability to work simultaneously with many clients who have varying objectives and ever-changing priorities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Day-to-day management and development of a 6+ person Account Management team with the possibility of growing to 10+ over the next two years. The Account Management team is responsible for managing 32+ partnerships surrounding the ING New York City Marathon and 28+ partners associated with other NYRR road race events. Account managers manage and fulfill the contractual benefits provided by NYRR to the partner as well as additional needs and requests from the partner. The Account Mangers also oversee the pre-event marketing and the development plan while simultaneously being responsible for the on-site execution of the partner elements and programs
  • The ability to ascertain or determine the client’s marketing objectives, and how NYRR can satisfy those objectives via NYRR’s portfolio of assets and services. Focus should be on sponsor activation for the benefit of NYRR and other NYRR sponsors and to enhance the client’s experience/sponsorship with NYRR

Manager - New Business Development and Marketing Strategy
Reports to the Senior Manager of New Business Development, with a focus on strategic new business development. 

 

Position Description:

Sales and Marketing Communications Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with the Senior Manager to create effective, customized marketing and sales proposals in a timely manner using Word and PowerPoint
  • Follow up on new business opportunities: Respond to incoming requests and assist with first round of communications to new prospects
  • Oversee production of all marketing and sales collateral used for new business development

 

Research and Analysis Responsibilities:

  • Develop and distribute Competitive Analysis reports
  • Develop custom Statistical Reports to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing programs and opportunities for new business development
  • Track all incoming and outgoing sales communications to evaluate trends and new opportunities
  • Industry Research: Regularly read trade publications (sports business journal, New York Times, etc.) for insight
  • Work with the Senior Manager to create feasibility studies and P&Ls for new business proposals for each new business opportunity

 

Business Management Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with internal department project leads across multiple business lines, to understand both organizational initiatives and existing partnerships

Creative Services Coordinator
The successful candidate will be extremely well organized, have an interest in both design and event production, and be available to work weekend events. This is not a design position, but the job does involve working closely with designers and doing some production design work. The Creative Services Coordinator will report directly to the Creative Services Director, and is part of the Communications/Brand Management group.

 

Major Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate with event managers and vendors to produce and deliver runner materials and event materials for events ranging from weekly running races to the ING New York City Marathon.
  • Maintaining inventory of materials used by the Creative Services and Communications groups, both in-office and with our Events Warehouses.
  • Creation of and updates to installation charts and diagrams for event signage in conjunction with the Events team.
  • Work with in-house designers to provide accurate files to vendors for production.
  • Create and update Excel spreadsheets of inventories and budgets
  • Track approvals and deliveries, updating everyone involved regarding status
  • Maintenance of the NYRR logo drive
  • Coordinate material production and deliveries for special events

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with 3-5 years office experience
  • Experience working on sporting/entertainment events
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Controller, Finance
The Controller is responsible for help setting financial reporting standards for the fiscal management for New York Road Runners. This position is also responsible to provide subject matter expertise to NYRR as it relates to GAAP, including but not limited to: general ledger best practices, daily banking relationships and tax reporting

The Controller reports to the VP for Finance.

The Controller will work closely with Vice President for Finance, the Finance Department, the Audit Committee and the Finance Committee who is charged with overseeing financial policy and investment strategy.

  • Responsible for the timely and accurate recording of all transactions that impact the NYRR general ledger and supervision of the accounting operations that include accounts payable, account receivable, billing and cash collections.
  • Thoroughly know the organization’s programs, sponsors, operations, structure and financial systems and understand how finance affects all segments of the organization.
  • Develop a solid working relationship with all members of the staff; create a collegial and supportive relationship.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Participate as needed with the Finance staff of day-to-day financial operations.
  • Manage and mentor the members of the Accounting staff.
  • Provide financial modeling.
  • Manage the accuracy of daily banking and cash reporting
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of accounting entries
  • Oversee the maintenance of the G/L including the credit card bank reconciliation
  • Ensure monthly G/L closings are completed timely and accurately
  • Provide leadership in setting the standards within the Finance department, for quality of work, timeliness of response, and overall communication and customer service.
  • Provide financial information to Operational staff and help them understand the financial implications of programmatic decisions.
  • Participate in the annual audit process, acting as a key liaison with outside accountants.
  • Prepare and or supervise tax reporting to the IRS and the State.
  • On ad hoc basis, provide fiscal problem resolution support to Department Head whenever directed.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Participate in Key NYRR events (such as ING NYC Marathon and other weekly races) in areas that may fall outside core expertise.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of diverse financial experience gained in public or private organization. Experience with mid size organizations are a plus.
  • An MBA or CPA
  • Not for profit accounting background desirable.
  • Interest in sports in general and running is an advantage.
  • Proven track record as a financial manager with broad accounting, systems and reporting experience at a senior level.
  • Proven ability to work through change and manage professionals.
  • Proven ability to work effectively and maintain positive, productive relations with colleagues, management, as well as financial institutions, sponsors/clients, independent auditors, vendors, and consultants.
  • Knowledge of data processing and the operation of integrated information systems are essential.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and oral.
